Siqveland Matrix Retainer, Narrow

A Siqveland matrix retainer holds a matrix band tight around a tooth, so you can rebuild a missing proximal wall. This narrow version suits premolars and smaller molars, where a standard retainer can crowd the field.

How it works

The band loops around the tooth and locks into the head of the retainer. Then a screw draws the band tight until it hugs the cervical margin. As a result, the filling material stays in place while it is packed and shaped.

Why choose the narrow head

A slimmer head takes up less space near the cheek. Therefore it suits small arches, children’s molars and teeth with tight access. In addition, the slim profile leaves more room for the wedge and your condenser.

Using the retainer

First, place a band of the right height for the cavity. Next, seat the retainer on the buccal side and tighten until the band is snug, not crushing the gingiva. After that, add a wedge to seal the margin. Finally, loosen the screw and slide the retainer off before you remove the band.

Care

Restorative material can lock the threads. So clean the screw and band slot straight after use. Then rinse, dry and sterilize the retainer with your usual cycle. Check that the screw turns smoothly before each case.
