Fedi Periodontia Instruments
Fedi periodontal instruments carry the name of a long-standing periodontal pattern series used in hand therapy. This page offers three numbered patterns. Clinicians who trained with the Fedi set often want the same working ends again, so we keep all three available as single pieces.
Patterns 1, 2 and 3
The options are labelled simply 1, 2 and 3. Our supplier prints nothing beside these three numbers, which means we name them only by number and do not guess at blade shapes or angles. Instead, open each photo and compare the working ends. Then match them to the sites and deposits you treat most often. If you are completing a Fedi kit, order the numbers that are missing from your cassette.
Building Them Into a Periodontal Tray
Most periodontal trays combine sickles, universal curettes and area-specific curettes. Fedi patterns then add a further choice for clinicians who prefer them. For example, some keep a Fedi instrument for one region where their other curettes adapt poorly. Also, holding all three numbers means one tray covers more situations without a second set.
Sharpening the Fedi Working Ends
Each pattern needs its own honing angle, so learn it with a magnifier before you sharpen at speed. Next, test the edge on an acrylic stick. Stop as soon as it bites, because over-honing shortens the life of the blade.
Material and Inspection
The instruments are produced in stainless steel to ASTM F899. An inspector on our US team checks blade finish and shank alignment for every numbered pattern before packing. Fedi instruments that reveal a material or finishing flaw are protected for three years against manufacturing defects, excluding the gradual narrowing that comes with sharpening. Since they ship non-sterile, clean and autoclave them before chairside use.
