Description
Poot Root Elevators
Poot root elevators come in two figures, Fig. 1 and Fig. 2. You can order either one alone. Many practices buy them to replace a worn or missing figure on a tray they already use. Others add the pair to widen their choice of elevators.
Replacing a Worn or Missing Poot Figure
Elevators go missing in the sterilisation loop, and tips wear down over time. When that happens, one replacement keeps the tray complete. First, check the figure number on your old instrument. Then order the same number so your routine stays the same. Poot root elevators make this easy, since each figure ships alone.
Picking Fig. 1 or Fig. 2 for the First Time
If you are new to this pattern, hold both before you decide. Match the tip to the root and to the access you usually have. A tip that seats with ease in the PDL space is the right one for that case. For this reason, many clinicians keep both.
Grip, Rest and Force
- Hold the handle in a palm grip with a finger close to the tip.
- Rest that finger on firm tooth or bone.
- Use small wedge and turning moves, not one big heave.
- Spare the neighbor tooth as a fulcrum unless you also plan to extract it.
Controlled force protects bone. It also keeps the tip from slipping toward soft tissue. Where an implant is planned, take extra care with the buccal plate.
Edge Care Between Cases
Rinse and brush the tip soon after use. Then let it get bone dry ahead of the cycle. Now and then, look for a rolled edge, because a dull tip needs more force to seat.
What Comes in the Box
Poot figures come from our own drawings and get one look-over by our US staff. For the metal, we pick a stainless alloy that tracks ASTM F899. Unpack it non-sterile, put it through your wash and steam routine, and it stays in rotation for years. Should a defect trace back to production, our cover stands at three years against manufacturing defects per figure. To compare a related pattern, open the Friedman root elevators.
