What Burnishing Does in a Restoration

Burnishing is a finishing step rather than a shaping step. The clinician moves a smooth, rounded end across the surface with light, controlled pressure. As a result, small irregularities near the margin flatten and the material adapts more closely.

Keeping Burnishing Ends Smooth

A burnisher works only while its working end stays polished. For that reason, avoid scraping it against hard deposits, and give it a dedicated cassette position away from sharp instruments. In addition, inspect the tip under good light after cleaning. A scratched end transfers marks to the surface instead of smoothing it.

Both White versions are stainless steel, and each White piece is looked over by hand in the United States prior to packing. White burnishers are dispatched unsterilized; put yours through cleaning and the autoclave before patient care.
