Description
Crile Artery Forceps
Crile artery forceps are a standard hemostat with transverse serrations along the full length of the jaw. They measure 14 cm.
Crile or Kelly
The two look alike. However, the Kelly has serrations only on the distal half of the jaw, while the Crile has serrations all the way.
Straight or curved
Straight jaws suit a direct approach. On the other hand, curved jaws help you see the tip beneath tissue.
Serrated or 1:2 teeth
Plain serrations hold vessels. Meanwhile, 1:2 teeth give extra bite on tougher tissue.
Everyday use
The Crile is a workhorse on general and dental surgery trays. For example, it clamps small to medium vessels before ligation or cautery. It also holds sutures and drapes in place. Because the whole jaw grips, it holds well even when only part of the jaw closes on tissue.
Reprocessing Crile artery forceps
Wipe the jaws during the case to stop blood from drying. Afterwards, brush the full-length serrations and the joint, then rinse and dry the forceps.
