Description
Mead Mallet
Osteotomes and chisels only work as well as the blows that drive them. A Mead mallet delivers those blows in small, repeatable taps, so bone is condensed or split gradually. The supplier catalogue lists it with its bone spreading mallets and chisels. That placement reflects its main use: driving instruments during implant site preparation.
Light Taps, Not Heavy Strikes
Bone responds better to many gentle impacts than to a few hard ones. For example, when you expand a narrow ridge, each tap moves the osteotome a fraction further. Then you pause, check the depth, and continue. A mallet with good balance makes that rhythm easier to keep.
Matching the Mallet to Your Instruments
The Mead pattern pairs with osteotomes, bone spreaders and ridge splitting chisels. Because one mallet serves all of them, it usually earns a permanent spot on the implant tray. Some teams also keep a second mallet, so an assistant can tap while the surgeon guides the instrument with both hands.
- Drives osteotomes and bone spreaders
- Advances ridge splitting chisels in small steps
- Single pattern for the implant tray
Who Holds the Mallet
In many offices, the assistant taps on the surgeon’s cue. Consequently, the mallet should feel controllable in a hand that is not guiding the instrument. Practice the cue words before a live case, since timing matters more than force.
Shipping, Sterilization and Warranty
Each mallet receives a U.S. inspection before it leaves our Atlanta stock. It arrives non-sterile; scrub, rinse and autoclave it ahead of its first case. Every Mead mallet we sell is protected for three years against manufacturing defects, head and handle included.
Steel components follow ASTM F899. A typical pairing is our Implant Osteotomes, 160 and 175 mm. Browse the Osteotomes category or Dental Implant Instruments, and see our FAQs for order help.
The mallet is offered only to trained professionals in implant and oral surgery. Read care and sterilization before use, and see shipping and delivery for dispatch details.
