Description
Implant Osteotomes, Knurled Handle
Each knurled handle osteotome on this page lets you enlarge a pilot site in small hand-driven increments while compressing the surrounding bone. The textured surface means a gloved hand stays secure while a mallet taps the end. You build the page selection from three choices: tip shape, shaft style and tip diameter.
Concave Tip or Rounded Tip
The Concave tip has a hollowed face. As a result, it gathers bone ahead of it and carries that bone apically as you advance. Many clinicians reach for it when the plan includes pushing bone toward the sinus floor. The Rounded tip, by contrast, presents a domed face. It tends to spread and compress the walls of the site rather than collect bone in front of it.
When the Offset Shaft Earns Its Place
The Straight, 160 mm shaft runs in line with the handle. That makes it simple to sight down in anterior and premolar sites. The Offset, 175 mm version bends the shaft away from the handle instead. Because of that bend, you can keep the working end parallel to the planned implant axis in posterior sites, while the handle clears the opposing teeth.
Stepping Through 2.7 to 5.0 mm
Five tip diameters are listed for every shape and shaft combination:
- 2.7 mm, often the opening step after a pilot drill
- 3.2 mm and 3.7 mm, the middle steps for narrow and regular implants
- 4.2 mm and 5.0 mm, the final steps for wider fixtures
Most surgeons therefore order a knurled handle osteotome in every diameter of one tip shape first, then add the second shape later if their technique calls for it. Always match the last osteotome to the drill protocol of the implant system you place.
Steel, Inspection and Cover
The osteotomes are surgical stainless steel and pass a visual and fit inspection at our Atlanta, Georgia facility before dispatch. They ship non-sterile, so clean and autoclave them before the first case. In addition, should a tip or handle fail through a flaw in production, every osteotome here is covered for three years against manufacturing defects.
Read about the stainless steel standard in ASTM F899, then browse our osteotomes collection. For the tapping itself, the Molt mallet is a natural partner. Ordering questions are covered on the FAQs page.
