Description
Molt Periotome Mallet
The Molt periotome mallet lets you tap periotomes, chisels and osteotomes with light, controlled force. Sometimes hand pressure alone will not move a blade deeper. In that case, a few soft taps can advance it without a sudden jump.
Why tap instead of push
Steady hand pressure can build until the blade suddenly gives way. A tap, by contrast, moves the tip a short, set distance each time. So you stay in charge of how far the blade goes. That control matters near thin bone and close to the sinus or nerve.
Working with an assistant
Often the clinician holds the periotome and an assistant does the tapping. First, agree on how hard each tap should be. Then use a clear word to start and stop. Also, keep taps short and even, and check the blade angle between them.
Instruments it pairs with
The mallet suits several tools in a surgical tray:
- Periotomes that need help to reach deeper into the ligament.
- Chisels for small bone work.
- Osteotomes used in implant site prep.
Grip and balance
Hold the handle lightly, near the end, and let the head do the work. A loose wrist gives softer, more even taps. In contrast, a tight grip tends to make each strike harder than you mean.
Cleaning and storage
Wipe off debris soon after use, since dried blood is harder to clear. Next, process it with your other reusable tools. Store it where it will not knock against fine blade edges.
Warranty and ordering
No sterile packing here: the mallet comes non-sterile and goes back into service after every cleaning and sterilization cycle. Our specification defines the mallet, and each one clears an inspection in the United States. Each mallet holds three years against manufacturing defects, so we repair or replace one with a build fault. For a light tool to tap, look at our titanium periotome patterns. Then browse the full elevator section or our FAQ list.
Meant for professional hands. Our site explains how to reprocess it and how fast orders go out.
