Description
Henahan Extracting Forceps, Fig. 1A
Henahan extracting forceps, Fig. 1A, give you one American figure for the upper incisors. It comes as one item with no options. So the choice is simple: you either need it for the front of the upper arch, or you don’t.
What the figure is for
Fig. 1A is for the upper incisors. These teeth usually have one root, and that root tends to be conical. Because of this, an upper incisor often responds well to a slow rotation once it starts to move. Upper forceps are mostly straight, and that suits the front of the arch.
American numbering in a mixed kit
American figures use US numbers, such as 150 or 151. English figures, on the other hand, use European numbers. If your kit mixes both, label the tray by tooth group rather than by number. That way, a nurse can find the Henahan fast, even if the numbers look alike.
A short technique reminder
- Grip cementum just under the gum line, never the incisal crown.
- Press apically before you apply any force.
- Luxate labial and palatal, then add a small rotation.
- Deliver the tooth along its long axis, toward the labial.
Keeping the hinge smooth
A forceps works best when the joint moves freely. After each use, scrub the hinge area while it is still wet. Next, rinse and dry it. Then dab a bead of hinge oil into the joint before sterilization. Also, open and close the handles a few times to spread it. Finally, look at the beak tips under good light, since they should meet evenly.
Order details and support
The Henahan follows our own spec sheet, and someone on our side inspects it in the United States. For material, we rely on ASTM F899 grade surgical stainless. We also stand behind it with three years against manufacturing defects in a single, simple promise. To see the wider range, open our extracting forceps category. For canines too, try the forceps for upper incisors and canines. Quick answers wait on our help page. The Henahan reaches you non-sterile, yet it serves case after case with proper cleaning and sterilization.
