Description
Titanium Periotomes
Our titanium periotomes have working ends made from titanium, so they weigh less than steel tools of a similar size. That light feel helps when you want fine control over long, careful work in the ligament space.
Seven patterns on offer
You can order seven patterns, and each comes singly:
- PT1, PT2, PT3, PT4 and PT5, listed as serrated.
- PPAEL.
- Allen 9.
The patterns differ in tip form, so try a few to learn which ones suit your hand and your cases.
What a periotome does
A periotome is a thin blade that cuts the PDL fibres around a root. First, you guide the tip down along the root surface. Then you work around the tooth with light pressure. As a result, the tooth loosens while the socket walls stay whole. It is not a lever, so do not pry with it.
Why weight matters
Periotome work can take time, because you circle the root again and again. A lighter tool puts less strain on the hand. In addition, low weight makes small changes in pressure easier to feel.
Building a periotome kit
Many clinicians keep a serrated PT form for the first cuts and another pattern for tight spots. However, the best mix depends on your own technique. So start with two or three patterns, then add the rest as needed.
Delivery, warranty and help
Your titanium periotomes travel non-sterile, and they are fit for repeat use after cleaning and sterilization. We source each pattern to our specification, and an inspector in the United States looks over every one. Titanium tips stand behind three years against manufacturing defects in our warranty, which covers faults in material or build. To tap a periotome with care, pair it with the Molt pattern mallet.
