Description
Parmly Extracting Forceps
Parmly extracting forceps are an eponym pattern for the upper arch. We offer two figures, and each one is a separate purchase. Fig. 32 is for upper premolars and molars. Fig. 32A is for upper premolars and roots.
Two figures, two jobs
Think of Fig. 32 as the crown-and-root option for a whole tooth. It takes premolars and molars on the maxilla. Fig. 32A, by contrast, adds roots to its list. So it suits a premolar with little crown left, or a root after a crown fracture.
Picking the right one
- Fig. 32: upper premolars and upper molars with a sound crown and root.
- Fig. 32A: upper premolars, plus roots that need a firm hold.
- Both: a good choice if you see a mix of these cases each week.
We give no further beak detail here, so we will not guess at the shape. Instead, choose by the tooth group and how much root you expect to grip.
Hand position and grip
Cradle the Parmly so its handles lie across your palm, thumb tucked between them near the hinge. That way, you can open and close the beaks without a change of grip. Also, stand where you can see the buccal side of the tooth. For upper teeth, the patient’s head tilts back a little, so your wrist stays straight.
From first seat to delivery
Place the palatal beak first, then the buccal beak. Push both apically onto root surface rather than enamel. Next, move the tooth with steady buccal and palatal pressure. In practice, a short pause at each end of the motion lets the ligament give. Then deliver the tooth along the easiest path.
Quality, warranty and links
Both Parmly figures follow our drawing, and a United States team inspects each one. We picked a surgical stainless named in ASTM F899. Either figure carries our pledge, a tidy three years against manufacturing defects; any production slip gets mended. Meanwhile, compare other forceps for tooth removal in the same range. The upper premolar forceps also pair well with a Parmly. For ordering help, visit the FAQ. Each figure comes non-sterile, and it goes back into use once you clean and sterilize it.
Intended for dental professionals. Glance over our instrument care notes and shipping details so the Parmly is ready on arrival.
