Description
Lawrence Read Extracting Forceps for Children, Fig. 76S
Our Lawrence Read forceps for children come as one figure, Fig. 76S, from our surgical list. The pattern suits the removal of primary teeth in small mouths.
Why children need their own forceps
A child’s mouth is small, and primary crowns are short. Adult forceps can block the view and crowd the lips. By contrast, a children’s figure gives a smaller working end in a compact frame. So the dentist sees more and the child feels less pressure.
Primary teeth behave differently
Primary roots are thin, and they often resorb as the adult tooth comes in. Therefore, they can break if you grip too hard. Seat the beaks on root surface, then use light, slow movement. Also, keep the permanent tooth bud below in mind.
Where Fig. 76S fits in a pedo tray
- Use it as the Lawrence Read option beside your other children’s figures.
- Store it apart from adult figures so the team finds it fast.
- Add a second one if you treat many children in one session.
We sell it as a single item, so you can try the pattern without a full set.
Calm chairside handling
Many children worry at the sight of instruments. In practice, keep the Lawrence Read forceps out of view until you need them. Then work in short, gentle steps and tell the child what to expect.
Keep the tips true
Small beaks can bend if they drop or meet a hard tray edge. After cleaning, close the handles and check that the tips meet. Store the forceps in a rack rather than loose.
From order to first case
Fig. 76S follows our own specification, and a US team gives it a close look by hand before dispatch. For the steel, we specify a stainless alloy to ASTM F899. It arrives non-sterile; after cleaning and sterilizing, the instrument returns for further cases. Any flaw from manufacture falls within three years against manufacturing defects at no cost to you. Look through every extraction forceps we stock, including the full children’s forceps page. Order and return queries are handled in our frequently asked questions.
Professional dental use only. Check the sterilization steps and our shipping options before you order.
