Woodson Plastic Filling Instruments

The Woodson filling instrument is a long-established plastic filling pattern in restorative dentistry. Clinicians use it to place soft restorative material, pack it against the cavity walls and shape the surface. Six Woodson Figures

The figures on offer are Fig. 1, Fig. 2, Fig. 3, Fig. 6, Fig. 11 and Fig. 179. Each is a separate Woodson design. However, the catalogue prints only figure numbers, with no written description of the working ends. Therefore, to judge Woodson blade shape and angle, lean on our photos of each figure.

Plain or Style 2 Handle

You can take any Woodson figure plain or as Style 2. Our supplier prints Style 2 as an extra row lower on page 37, pairing each Woodson end with an alternative handle that it leaves unnamed. We will not guess at that grip. So set the two Woodson photos next to each other and choose by feel.

Choosing Woodson Figures for a Cassette

Most dentists already know their Woodson numbers from training. If you do, reorder those figures in your preferred handle style. If not, start with two or three neighbouring figures, for example Fig. 1, Fig. 2 and Fig. 3, and then add Fig. 6, Fig. 11 or Fig. 179 as needed. In addition, keeping one handle style across the set makes trays easy to check.

Woodson Steel and Coverage

All twelve Woodson options are stainless steel, and each Woodson figure receives a United States hand inspection before boxing. These Woodson pieces arrive unsterilized; wash and autoclave each figure before restorative use. Also, Woodson buyers get three years against manufacturing defects on plain and Style 2 alike.
