Description
Winter Root Elevators
Winter root elevators pair a working blade with a cross-bar, or T, handle. That handle sits in the palm and gives you a lot of turning power. For this reason, they call for slow, measured force.
Power in the palm
A cross-bar handle multiplies the torque from your wrist. That helps when a root sits firm in dense bone. However, the same power can fracture a thin plate or a root tip if you rush. So start with small turns, feel for movement, and stop to reassess when nothing gives. Keep a finger of the other hand on the ridge to guard the soft tissue.
Five figures, two hands each
The range covers figures 1, 11, 12, 13 and 14, each as L or R, for ten pieces in all. You need the matching hand for the side you treat, since the blade points one way. Most offices stock both hands of the figures they use most.
- Figure 1: 1L and 1R
- Figures 11 and 12: 11L, 11R, 12L and 12R
- Figures 13 and 14: 13L, 13R, 14L and 14R
Choosing a starting pair
If you have not used this pattern before, begin with a single L and R of one figure. Then add others once you know which suits your cases. Each piece comes singly, so you can fill gaps later without buying a full run.
Safe leverage habits
Never borrow a neighbouring tooth as the fulcrum, unless that tooth is coming out in the same visit. Instead, seat the blade in the ligament space or against bone. Also, keep your wrist straight and your hand rested. These habits matter more with a T handle than with a straight one.
From order to the tray
Our team writes the specification, and every piece gets a hands-on look in the United States. Winter blades and bars use stainless steel picked to suit ASTM F899. It arrives non-sterile, then, once you clean and sterilize it, handles case after case. Any flaw in the making lands within our three years against manufacturing defects. For other styles, open the root elevator category, or set these beside the pointed Cryer figures. Common order questions live on our FAQ list.
