Description

Williger Retractors

Small surgical sites need a retractor that holds tissue without filling the mouth. The Williger retractor is a compact pronged hook, 13 cm long in our supplier’s catalogue. It holds flap edges, lips and wound margins apart during oral and minor facial surgery. We list twelve versions so you can match direction, tip and prong count.

Reading the Twelve Option Names

Each option name combines three choices:

  • Straight, Left or Right: the direction of the working end. Straight suits midline work, while left and right angle toward one side.
  • Sharp or Blunt: sharp prongs grip firm tissue such as skin or periosteum; blunt prongs are gentler near vessels and thin mucosa.
  • 2 Prongs or 3 Prongs: two prongs fit tight spaces, while three spread the pull over a wider edge.

So, for example, “Left / Blunt / 3 Prongs” angles left, has blunt tips and carries three prongs.

Building a Practical Set

Few offices need all twelve. First, decide whether your cases are mostly intraoral or involve skin incisions. Then choose blunt tips for mucosa and sharp ones for skin. Next, add a left and right pair if an assistant often works from one side.

Placing the Prongs

Hook the prongs under the tissue edge, then pull with light, steady tension. Also, reposition rather than pulling harder when the view narrows. Because sharp prongs can puncture a thin flap, use them only on firm tissue.

Shipping Condition and Warranty

Every Williger retractor is sent non-sterile; wash and steam it first. Prong spacing is checked by eye in the United States on each one. Bent prongs from a production flaw are our problem, because each version holds three years against manufacturing defects.

This is ASTM F899 grade stainless steel. To reflect the flap first, use our Williger periodontal instruments. Also see our maxillofacial surgery instruments or our FAQs for help choosing prongs.

Only for qualified surgeons and assisting staff. Prong cleaning: care and sterilization. Dispatch and transit: shipping and delivery.
