Description
Williger Bone Curettes, 14 cm
Our williger curette 14 cm is a sharp spoon for scraping soft tissue and debris out of bony cavities. The supplier lists the Williger set on its bone curettes page, under the heading of sharp spoons, alongside the Martini pattern.
Reading the Figure Numbers
We offer three figures: Fig. 00/0, Fig. 0/1 and Fig. ½. In the usual curette numbering, the pair of numbers names the cup on each end, and a higher number means a larger cup. So Fig. 00/0 carries the two smallest cups, Fig. 0/1 sits in the middle, and Fig. ½ gives the two largest. Because the catalogue prints no cup diameters, compare the photos if exact size matters.
- Fig. 00/0: the finest cups, for narrow sockets and small lesions.
- Fig. 0/1: a middle pair for routine extraction sites.
- Fig. ½: the largest cups, for wider defects and cyst cavities.
Socket Clean-Up and Bone Collection
After an extraction, the Williger scrapes granulation tissue from the socket walls. As a result, that leaves clean bone before a graft or a simple closure. Also, the cup can scoop autogenous chips from a nearby site and carry them to a defect. For this reason, many surgeons keep two figures on the tray, then switch ends as the cavity changes shape.
Williger Quality Notes
First of all, the Williger is surgical stainless steel, looked over by our people in the United States prior to shipping. It is packed non-sterile, so flush the cups and steam sterilize each Williger before use. In addition, each Williger figure is covered for three years against manufacturing defects, Williger cups and shank alike.
The steel meets the ASTM F899 standard. Browse our Maxillofacial Surgery Instruments for more, or set the williger curette 14 cm beside the Martini bone curettes to compare patterns. Our FAQs answer order questions.
Williger curettes are supplied for trained surgical and dental staff only. Reprocessing guidance is on our care page, and parcel timing is on our shipping page.
