Description
West Periosteal Elevators
Every flap needs an instrument that stays in contact with bone and lifts the tissue in one layer. The west periosteal elevator is listed in our supplier’s periosteal elevator range for exactly that task. You order one West pattern here, with no variants.
Where the West Pattern Fits
The catalogue places the West elevator beside other named patterns such as the Woodson. Each pattern has its own tip outline, and surgeons develop clear preferences. Therefore the best way to judge the West is to study the product photos. Then compare its working end with the elevators already on your tray.
Raising a Flap at the Ridge
After the incision, the clinician seats the elevator at the crest. Next, the tip moves under the periosteum while staying against bone. Then it advances buccally or lingually to expose the area needed for drilling or grafting. A controlled, rocking motion helps keep the flap intact.
Beyond Implant Sites
The same instrument is useful in periodontal flap surgery and crown lengthening. In addition, oral surgeons use periosteal elevators before surgical extractions. So a West elevator rarely sits unused, whatever the specialty of the practice. Many teams keep two, in case one is needed while the other is being reprocessed.
Quality Review and Warranty
This elevator is stainless steel. Before dispatch, our US team inspects the tip and the handle finish. It arrives without sterilization, so it needs a full clean and an autoclave cycle before surgery. Our West elevator guarantee lasts three years against manufacturing defects from delivery.
Steel used here is specified to ASTM F899. See similar patterns in Dental Implant Instruments. The Woodson Periosteal Elevators make a useful companion with a different tip. Our FAQs explain ordering and returns.
Only for trained dental and surgical clinicians. See our sterilization guide and shipping information before use.
