Description
Wedelstaedt Chisels
The Wedelstaedt chisel is a hand cutting instrument for cavity preparation. Dentists use it to plane and refine enamel walls and margins where a rotary instrument is less precise. Our supplier lists it among its cavity preparation instruments, and this page offers three figure pairs on two handle patterns.
Three Figure Pairs: ½, 3/4 and 5/6
The catalogue numbers each Wedelstaedt option as a pair: Fig. ½, Fig. 3/4 and Fig. 5/6. Each pair is its own design, so a clinician usually stocks the figures that match their preparation style. The catalogue shows the pairs as drawings without written blade dimensions. For that reason, please compare the product photos to judge blade width and shank angle before ordering.
What Style 2 Means Here
You can also order every pair as Style 2. In our supplier catalogue, Style 2 is a second row on the following page, where the same Wedelstaedt figure sits on a different handle pattern. Our supplier does not name the handle style, so we keep to what the catalogue shows. Look at the plain and Style 2 photos together, then pick the grip that matches your other hand instruments.
Building a Chisel Set
Some dentists keep a single pair they reach for daily. Others stock Fig. ½, 3/4 and 5/6 together, so a suitable blade is ready for each preparation. In addition, ordering every pair on the same handle style keeps a cassette visually consistent. It also makes it easy to spot a missing chisel at breakdown.
Edge Care for Wedelstaedt Blades
Every Wedelstaedt pair is stainless steel and passes a United States hand inspection before packing. Wedelstaedt chisels leave us unsterilized, so clean and autoclave each ½, 3/4 or 5/6 before use. Protect the cutting edges in a cassette, because loose instruments knock against each other. Our Wedelstaedt promise is three years against manufacturing defects across all six options.
