Description
Waldsachs Wire Bending and Cutting Pliers
Some jobs need a bend and a cut in quick order. Our Waldsachs pliers do both in one tool. The catalogue rates them to bend wire up to 0.9 mm (.036″) and to cut wire up to 0.7 mm (.028″).
Bend, Then Trim
You shape the wire with the beaks first. Then you trim the end with the cutter, without reaching for a second tool. In practice, that saves time on clasps and appliance wire.
Two Different Limits
Note that the bending and cutting limits differ. The beaks take wire up to 0.9 mm, but the cutter stops at 0.7 mm. So check the wire size before you cut, because overloading the cutter can dull it.
A Lab Bench Favourite
This plier suits removable appliance and retainer work. For example, you might bend a clasp arm and then trim the tail. It works at the chair too, though the lab is its natural home.
Wire Work Tips
- Bend in several small moves for better control.
- Hold the free end when you cut so it cannot fly.
- Keep the cutter for wire within its rating.
Hinge and Edge Upkeep
A combined tool has two wear points. For that reason, check both the beaks and the cutting edge often. Also keep the hinge clean and add a little oil after washing.
What We Stand Behind
Our Waldsachs pliers come from our own specification and pass a US inspection. Our stainless steel spec points to ASTM F899. If one fails from a build fault, we mend it or send a new one, as each carries three years against manufacturing defects. It ships non-sterile, yet it returns to service after each round of washing and sterilizing. For facebow work, compare the face bow bending and cutting pliers. Or see our orthodontic and lab pliers, and visit the FAQs.
