Description
Face Bow Bending and Cutting Pliers
These face bow pliers both bend and cut heavy wire, so one tool covers two steps. Wire up to 1.80 mm (.071”) is the stated limit. You can pick from two options, Magnum and Universal.
Magnum or Universal?
Both options carry the same 1.80 mm (.071”) rating. Both bend and cut facebow wire. The catalogue does not give more detail on how they differ. So the photos are the best way to compare their shape and feel. Choose whichever grip feels right to you. We sell each pattern on its own.
Two Jobs, One Tool
Adjusting a facebow often means a bend, then a trim. With a combined plier, you do not need to swap tools between steps. As a result, a chairside fit goes faster. That also means fewer tools to clean after the visit.
- Bends heavy facebow wire
- Cuts the same wire
- Heavy wire to .071”
- Magnum and Universal options
Cutting Within the Rating
A cutting edge chips fast when it meets wire that is too thick. So never go past 1.80 mm. Also avoid cutting hardened wire that the plier was not meant for. When the edge dulls, stop and get advice rather than forcing it.
Hinge and Edge Checks
Heavy wire puts strain on the joint. Check for side play every month or so. Look at the cutting edge under a good light too. A clean edge with no nicks gives a neat, flat cut.
How It Ships
We source it to our own spec. Delivered non-sterile, it returns to work after each clean and sterilisation.
We back both face bow pliers with three years against manufacturing defects should production go wrong. The stainless steel meets ASTM F899. For loops in the same bow wire, see the Aderer facebow loop plier. More cutters and pliers fill our Atlanta orthodontic catalog, and the Intrace help section covers orders.
