Description
Aderer Facebow Loop Forming Pliers
Facebow wire is thick and stiff, and a light loop plier will not take it. That is where these Aderer facebow loop pliers come in. Their top wire size is 1.60 mm, or .063”. So they form loops and bends in headgear bows and other heavy wire.
Built for Thick Wire
At 1.60 mm, this plier works with wire far heavier than any archwire. In fact, it sits at the heavy end of our loop plier range. For that reason, keep it for bow work and other stout wire, and leave fine loops to lighter tools.
Adjusting a Facebow
A facebow often needs a loop or bend so it fits the patient well. You can form those loops with this plier at the chair or in the lab. Then check the fit and repeat as needed. As always, follow your own clinical method for the bow itself.
- Loops and bends in facebow wire
- Facebow wire to .063”
- Aderer pattern, one item
- Useful in lab and clinic
Pairing With a Cutter
Heavy wire also needs a heavy cutter. A light pin cutter will chip on facebow wire. Instead, pair this plier with a cutter rated for thick wire. Then you can trim and shape in one session.
Care for a Heavy-Use Tool
Thick wire puts real load on the joint. So check the hinge for play now and then. Also clean out the joint after each use, because grit adds wear under load. Light oil after drying keeps the action firm and smooth.
On Arrival
This plier follows our in-house spec. It is shipped non-sterile, and each cleaning and sterilisation round brings it back into use.
Should the build fail, our facebow loop pliers have three years against manufacturing defects to lean on. The stainless steel follows ASTM F899. To trim the bow, the facebow bending and cutting plier is a close partner. Many more tools wait in our ortho instrument catalog, and our FAQ list answers order questions.
For professional hands only. Check our sterilisation page and our shipping times as needed.
