Description
Valleix Uterine Sound
The Valleix uterine sound measures the depth and direction of the uterus. It carries graduations along its 25 cm length.
Reading the graduations
The clinician passes the sound gently until it meets the fundus. Then the markings at the cervix show the cavity depth. Also, the feel of the path shows whether the uterus tilts forward or back.
Before other steps
Sounding comes before dilation, curettage or IUD placement. So the next instrument goes no deeper than the measured depth. Meanwhile, the angle helps guide the next step.
A 25 cm length
This length gives comfortable reach through a speculum for most routine sounding. Plus, it suits both office and operating room work. However, some teams prefer a longer sound in a deep field.
Choosing a sound
We carry several patterns, including Simpson, Martin and Sims. By contrast, the Valleix uterine sound comes in a single 25 cm size. Pick it when your team wants a compact graduated option for office work.
Cleaning Valleix uterine sound
Wipe the sound clean from handle to tip right after use, before blood dries. Then check that the graduations remain easy to read under normal room light. Store it flat in a tray so it keeps its shape between uses.
