Description
Menghini Biopsy Needle
The Menghini needle takes an aspiration biopsy in a single pass using suction. Its classic use lies in liver biopsy.
The Menghini technique
The clinician applies suction through the needle and makes one quick pass into the tissue. So a core of tissue collects inside the needle. Also, the single pass keeps the procedure brief.
Ten sizes
Diameters run from 1.0 to 1.8 mm. Meanwhile, lengths range from 35 mm up to 168 mm. Therefore you can match the needle to the depth of the target.
Complete versions
We also offer complete versions in 1.4 or 1.8 mm diameter. Plus, these suit teams that want a ready set. So ask us what the complete version includes before you order.
Picking a size
Finer diameters such as 1.0 or 1.2 mm take a smaller sample. However, 1.6 or 1.8 mm needles collect more tissue in one pass. So choose the Menghini needle size with your clinician’s technique in mind.
Cleaning Menghini needle
Push water and then enzymatic cleaner through the needle right after use. Next, pass a cleaning wire to clear any tissue from the bore. Then check the tip for bends and store each size in its own sleeve.
