Description
Doyen Gynecological Scissors
Doyen gynecological scissors come in 15 or 18 cm, each with straight or curved blades. Most options have blunt/blunt tips, with one sharp/blunt pair.
Blunt/blunt tips
Blunt tips on both blades lower the chance of an accidental puncture. So they suit cutting near delicate structures. Also, they work well for spreading tissue before a cut.
One sharp/blunt option
The 15 cm straight pair also comes with sharp/blunt tips. Therefore the pointed blade can start a cut while the blunt one guards the tissue below. However, this tip style comes only in that one size.
Measured lengths
The 15 cm size measures about 16 cm. Meanwhile, the 18 cm size measures about 17.5 cm. Then pick straight or curved blades in either size to suit your surgeons.
Choosing Doyen scissors
Straight Doyen gynecological scissors suit direct cuts. By contrast, curved ones follow tissue around corners. So many teams stock both shapes in their usual length.
Reprocessing Doyen gynecological scissors
Separate blunt and sharp-tipped pairs in storage so staff pick the right one. Then scrub, rinse and dry them after each use, with extra attention on the pivot. Also, inspect each tip for burrs under magnification.
