Description
Sims Uterine Scissors With Tungsten Carbide
These Sims scissors have tungsten carbide edges and a 23 cm length. You can order them straight or curved for uterine and gynecologic work.
A uterine scissor pattern
Surgeons use the Sims pattern for cutting uterine and cervical tissue. So many gynecology sets carry a pair. Also, the 23 cm length reaches through a vaginal approach and still suits open work.
Straight or curved
Straight blades give a direct line of cut. Meanwhile, curved blades follow rounded tissue and keep the tips in view. Therefore the choice depends on the step and the surgeon.
Why carbide
Carbide inserts outlast plain steel edges. Then the scissors keep cutting cleanly for longer between sharpenings. Plus, the harder edge copes well with firm cervical tissue.
Carbide or stainless Sims
We also stock a stainless Sims pattern with a choice of tips. However, the Sims scissors with tungsten carbide come in one 23 cm length. So choose carbide for edge life and stainless for tip options.
Cleaning Sims scissors tungsten carbide
Rinse the joint first, because that area traps the most debris. Then open and close the scissors under running water to clear it. Also, store them apart from heavier instruments so the carbide does not chip.
