Sims gynecological scissors are a uterine pattern with stainless steel edges. You can pick the length, the curve and the tip style.

Three tip styles

Blunt/blunt tips lower the chance of piercing tissue by accident. By contrast, sharp/sharp tips start a cut with precision. Also, sharp/blunt tips combine a pointed blade with a protected one.

20 or 23 cm

The 20 cm size suits closer work near the cervix and vaginal vault. Meanwhile, the 23 cm size reaches through a vaginal approach. So both lengths appear on many gynecology sets, often side by side.

Straight or curved

Straight blades cut in line with the shaft. However, curved blades follow tissue contours and keep the tips visible. Then pick the curve that suits the step you perform most often.

Stainless or carbide

These Sims gynecological scissors have stainless edges. Instead, the tungsten carbide Sims sells separately at 23 cm. Therefore pick by whether tip choice or edge life matters more.

Cleaning Sims gynecological scissors

Match the tip style on the label to the pair in each pack, since tips look alike. Next, clean the blades and pivot with a soft brush, working from the tips back. Then dry them fully and test the cut before sterilization.
