Description
Universal Wire Bending and Cutting Pliers
A good all-round plier saves space on a busy bench. Our universal wire pliers bend up to .036″ (0.9 mm) and cut up to .028″ (0.7 mm). They come in three patterns, so you can pick the one that suits your hand.
Three Patterns, Same Ratings
All three options share the same bending and cutting limits. The difference lies in the pattern, so check the photo of each. Every option is sold singly.
- Taper Style: a tapered pattern of the universal plier.
- Dolphin Style: the dolphin pattern of the same tool.
- Small: a smaller version for tighter work.
Picking Your Pattern
If you work in tight spaces, the Small may suit you best. Otherwise, choose between Taper Style and Dolphin Style by feel. Many technicians simply keep the one their hand likes.
Retainer and Appliance Work
Universal wire pliers shine in removable appliance work. For example, you can bend a clasp and trim it with the same tool. As a result, you swap tools less often at the bench.
Respect the Cutting Limit
The cutter stops at 0.7 mm (.028″), even though the beaks bend thicker wire. So measure first when in doubt. A heavier cutter is the right choice for anything larger.
Simple Care
Clean the beaks and the cutter after each use. Then dry the joint and add a drop of oil. Check the cutting edge now and then, since a dull edge leaves rough ends.
Our Side of the Deal
We have all three patterns made to our specification and inspected in the States. Each one uses stainless steel chosen against ASTM F899. Buyers also receive three years against manufacturing defects, with repair or replacement for a faulty plier. Each one arrives non-sterile; after cleaning and sterilizing, it is ready to reuse. For thicker wire, try our heavy-duty wire cutters. You can also shop our orthodontic wire tools and look over our list of FAQs.
