Description
Tuft Wax, Porcelain and Modelling Carvers
The Tuft wax and porcelain carver is a modelling instrument for the dental laboratory and for chairside wax-ups. It lets a technician add material, sculpt anatomy and refine margins on wax patterns and porcelain build-ups. We sell it as one instrument, and a member of our Georgia team inspects it before it ships, so it passes a US check.
One Tool Across Three Materials
Wax, porcelain and general modelling work each ask something slightly different of a carver. Wax needs a tip that can carry a warm bead and then smooth it. Porcelain build-up, by contrast, calls for gentle placing and condensing of a wet mix. Modelling covers the fine anatomy in between. So a single, versatile Tuft carver saves the technician from swapping tools during every stage.
Working Habits That Get More From It
First, keep the tip clean between materials, because dried porcelain slurry and wax residue spoil the surface. Next, warm the tip only as much as the wax needs. Then, when sculpting cusps, use short strokes and turn the work rather than the wrist. Over time, these habits also keep the edges crisp.
Check the Photo Before Ordering
This carver has no separate catalogue caption, so the product name is our main description. Therefore, please look at the photo to confirm the tip shapes match the carver you want to replace or add. If you need several, order the same item so your bench stays consistent.
Made from ASTM F899 stainless steel, the carver leaves our shelf unsterilized; scrub it, then sterilize before any intraoral wax-up. Additionally, three years against manufacturing defects is the cover on every Tuft carver bought here.
For the alloy itself, open the ASTM F899 summary, browse Diagnostic, Periodontal & Restorative Instruments, and consider Lessmann wax knives for heavier wax cutting. Our FAQs answer common questions.
Lab and modelling carvers are for trained dental technicians and clinicians. Residue removal guidance sits on care and sterilization, with dispatch options on shipping and delivery.
