Description
Taylor Curettes & Scalers
The Taylor curette, Fig. 2/3, is a double-ended periodontal instrument listed by the supplier under curettes and scalers. Its two ends share one handle, so the clinician can switch sides of a tooth without picking up another tool. Before it is packed, a member of our Georgia team looks it over, which gives each instrument a US inspection.
What the Fig. 2/3 Number Means
In periodontal catalogues, a paired figure such as 2/3 names the two working ends on a single instrument. One end is figure 2, and the other is figure 3. The catalogue does not print blade angles for the Taylor pattern. Therefore, study the product photos to see how each end is shaped before you add it to a cassette.
Standard Handle or Style 2
The first option is Fig. 2/3 on the handle shown in the main catalogue row. Style 2 is the same Fig. 2/3 working pattern listed again on the next catalogue page with a different handle. Because the catalogue does not describe that handle, compare the two photos for diameter and texture. Then choose the one that matches your other instruments, so your grip feels the same throughout a session.
Working With a Curette and Scaler Pattern
Hygienists usually adapt the blade to the tooth, establish a fulcrum, and use short, overlapping strokes. Meanwhile, the second end handles the opposing surface. When the edge dulls, regular sharpening restores the bite. In addition, careful sharpening keeps the original blade profile, which helps the instrument last.
The Taylor curette is stainless steel to ASTM F899 and arrives non-sterile, so clean and autoclave it before patient use. We also back both handle versions for three years against manufacturing defects. Learn more through the ASTM F899 reference, browse Diagnostic, Periodontal & Restorative Instruments, or compare with our Gracey curettes for area-specific work. Our FAQs explain orders and returns.
Taylor instruments are for trained hygienists and dentists. Sharpening and reprocessing notes are on care and sterilization; carrier choices are on shipping and delivery.
