Description
Surgical Mallet, 16.5 cm
Osteotomes and chisels only perform as well as the force behind them. A surgical mallet delivers that force in short, measured taps rather than heavy blows. This model is 16.5 cm long, a compact size that suits work inside the mouth. It comes in one version.
Why 16.5 cm Suits Dental Surgery
Orthopaedic mallets are long and heavy, which makes them awkward near the face. In contrast, a 16.5 cm mallet keeps the swing short and easy to control. The assistant can tap from beside the patient without crossing the operator’s view. As a result, each strike lands where the surgeon expects it.
Common Jobs for the Mallet
Implant teams use it to advance bone spreading osteotomes in narrow ridges. It also drives sinus osteotomes during a crestal sinus lift. In addition, it powers bone chisels for ridge splitting and block harvesting. The same mallet therefore covers several stages of a grafting workflow.
Tapping Technique
Start with gentle taps and listen to the sound of the instrument. Then raise the force slowly only if progress stalls. Keep the mallet face square to the end of the osteotome, so the energy travels along its axis. Communication matters too: the surgeon should call each tap.
Checks Before Shipping and Our Guarantee
Our quality staff in the US look over every mallet for finish and balance. Mallets are packed non-sterile, so clean the striking face and sterilize it with your other surgical steel. Should a material or finishing fault surface, the mallet is warranted three years against manufacturing defects by Intrace USA.
For our steel grade, read the ASTM F899 listing. More tools are in our Dental Implant Instruments category. Pair the mallet with Implant Osteotomes, 160 and 175 mm for site preparation. Questions? Our FAQs can help.
