Sugarman Periodontal Files

Description

Sugarman Periodontal Files

Sugarman periodontal files are paired, double-ended files for working heavy deposits in narrow interproximal areas. A file has several small cutting edges on one face, so it crushes and roughs down calculus before a curette finishes the root. Our Georgia staff views every file before it ships, which gives each one a US inspection.

Where a File Helps More Than a Curette

Tenacious, ledge-like deposits resist a single curette blade. A file engages them with many edges at once, and a short pull stroke then fractures the deposit. After that, a curette or scaler can smooth what remains. Because the Sugarman pattern is slim, it is often chosen for contacts where a bulkier file will not fit.

Fig. 1S/2S or Fig. 3S/4S

The supplier catalogue lists two Sugarman pairs. Fig. 1S/2S is one double-ended pair, and Fig. 3S/4S is the second pair, with its working ends set at a different orientation for other surfaces. The catalogue does not print angles, so check the photos to see how each tip faces. Many clinicians order both pairs so that every interproximal surface has a matching end.

The Style 2 Versions

Both pairs are listed a second time under the Style 2 name. In the catalogue, those rows sit on the following page with an unnamed alternative handle. The catalogue does not describe the difference, so compare the handle photos and pick the one closer to your other periodontal instruments. Then reorder that same style to keep your cassettes uniform.

The files are stainless steel to ASTM F899 and arrive non-sterile; clean, pack and sterilize them before use. On top of that, each Sugarman periodontal file carries a guarantee of three years against manufacturing defects.

Read the ASTM F899 page, browse Diagnostic, Periodontal & Restorative Instruments, or add the companion Sugarman periodontal instruments, Fig. 9/10. Our FAQs answer order questions.

Periodontal files are for trained hygienists, periodontists and dentists. File faces need careful brushing, covered in care and sterilization; delivery windows are on shipping and delivery.
