There are three Stout root elevators to choose from: Fig. 11, Fig. 11A and Fig. 12. Each one sells singly, so you can replace a worn tip without buying a whole set. This page looks at wear, choice and safe handling.

When a Stout Figure Wears Out

A blade that once gripped the root can start to slide. That is often the first sign of wear. Look for a rounded edge, a nick, or a tip that no longer sits flush. If you see any of these, retire the tool and order the same figure again. In short, a sharp edge does the work with less force.

Three Stout Options and How to Pick

• Fig. 12: the third figure in the set.

The best guide is your own hand. So try each figure on a model, then match it to the roots you see most. Also think about access, because a figure that feels right up front may not suit a back root.

Grip, Rest and Force

Hold the handle firmly, with your index finger toward the working end. Then brace another finger on firm tissue close to the site. Never lever against the next tooth unless it is also coming out. Instead, use slow wedging and small turns in the PDL space rather than one big push.

Protecting Bone for Later Work

If an implant may follow, the buccal plate matters. Therefore, work around the root and lift it rather than pushing the wall outward. Careful steps now can spare a graft later.

The design follows our specification, and inspection happens on US soil before it ships. We use stainless steel to ASTM F899, a standard for surgical tools. It leaves us non-sterile, yet you can reuse it once it has gone through cleaning and sterilisation.
