Description
Spencer-Delicate Ligature Scissors
The delicate Spencer stitch scissors are a fine version of the classic Spencer pattern. Their small hooked blade catches very fine sutures, such as those used on the face, eyelids and hands.
A finer hook
The hook on the lower blade is smaller than on the standard Spencer. As a result, it slips under 5-0 and 6-0 sutures without lifting the skin edge.
Size of the delicate Spencer stitch scissors
At 11 cm, they are light and precise. In addition, the slim blades keep the view of tiny stitches clear.
Facial suture removal
Facial stitches often come out after only a few days, while the wound is still delicate. Therefore, a fine hook that cuts without tugging helps protect the healing line.
Technique
Slide the hook under the stitch next to the knot. Then close the blades gently and lift the suture out with fine forceps.
Standard or delicate
The standard Spencer suits trunk and limb sutures. By contrast, this delicate pattern suits fine sutures on visible areas.
Plastic surgery clinics
Many plastic surgery clinics keep a pair in every dressing pack. That way, fine stitches never meet a heavy instrument.

Getting this scissors
The delicate Spencer pattern carries three years against manufacturing defects. Before shipment, a person in Atlanta looks over the Spencer pattern under good light. For delivery questions, visit our FAQ section. For background on instrument metals, check ASTM F899. A second scissors in stores saves a cancelled case. Often bought with it is our standard Spencer pattern. Similar patterns live in the general instrument list.
