Description
SharpTrace™ Tallulah Thin Posterior Sickle Scaler
The SharpTrace Tallulah scaler is a slim posterior sickle made for the places a standard blade will not fit. Its thin working ends slip through tight contacts and into narrow embrasures. As a result, you can clear interproximal deposits on crowded or tilted teeth without opening the contact.
Designed for deep, narrow access
Tallulah is named after a Georgia gorge, and the profile follows the name. The blade is narrow from heel to tip, so it enters spaces where a bulkier sickle binds. That makes it a natural partner for maintenance visits, orthodontic patients and anterior-posterior transition areas.
Thin does not mean flimsy
A thin blade still has to remove calculus. For that reason, the shank keeps enough stiffness for light to moderate deposits while the edges stay fine. For heavy, ledged calculus, start with a rigid sickle and use Tallulah to finish the contacts.
How to use the SharpTrace Tallulah scaler
Insert the tip through the contact with the face closed toward the tooth. Next, open the face to about 70 degrees and engage beneath the deposit. Use short, light pull strokes and let the fine edge do the work. Then switch ends for the opposite surface.
Keeping the edge
Fine edges dull faster than heavy ones, so sharpen little and often. Use a fine stone and follow the factory bevel. After each patient, rinse the blade, brush away debris and sterilize the instrument completely dry.
