Description
Schmeckebier Apexo Root Elevators, Flat Tip
Some root tips sit so tight in the socket that a curved scoop will not go in. That is where the Schmeckebier flat tip pattern earns its place. You can buy it in two figures, Fig. 4 and Fig. 5.
Thin entry first
A flat tip has no hollow to widen it. As a result, it can start in a very narrow gap and open the ligament space a little at a time. Once the root moves, you can carry on with the same figure or switch tools.
How it compares with the scooped sibling
Our concave version cups the root, so it holds a fragment you can already reach. The flat version, on the other hand, goes in where space is short. In short, flat helps you start and concave helps you finish.
Two figures to pick from
- Fig. 4: one of the two flat-tip figures.
- Fig. 5: the second figure, for a different line of approach.
- Both: a good pair if you remove roots often.
Try both on a model if you can, then keep the one that suits your usual quadrant. We sell each on its own.
Controlled force at the root
Brace your hand with a finger rest near the site. Next, slide the flat tip down the ligament space and rotate it a little each way. Let the wedge loosen the fragment before you lift. Do not lever on a tooth that will stay. For an implant site, slow work also helps save the buccal plate.
Edge upkeep
A Schmeckebier flat tip works best while its edge is crisp. However, it is thin, so avoid prying or twisting hard. Look at it after each cycle and resharpen it lightly or set it aside if it rolls.
Buying the flat pattern
Your elevator ships non-sterile. Run it through cleaning and sterilization before first use, and it then serves through many cases. Its steel meets ASTM F899, and the build follows our own specification. Both figures share one guarantee, namely three years against manufacturing defects. For a cupped end, view the concave tip Schmeckebier. Our elevator category lists the rest, and our help page answers common order points.
