Description
Schmeckebier Apexo Root Elevators, Concave Tip
The Schmeckebier concave tip elevators have a scooped working end that cups the curve of a root. They come as a pair, Fig. 4 and Fig. 5, for small apical work.
What the scoop does
A concave tip wraps part way around a round root surface. Because of that, it holds the fragment rather than skating across it. That helps when the root tip is smooth or wet.
Cupped versus flat
We also offer this pattern with a flat tip. The flat version slides into a tighter space, so it wins when the gap beside the root is very thin. The cupped version, by contrast, suits a root you can already reach and now need to cradle. Many clinicians keep both: flat to enter, scooped to lift.
The Fig. 4 and Fig. 5 pair
The two figures work as a set, yet we sell each one singly. Most users find the pair covers more angles of approach.
- Fig. 4: one figure of the concave pair.
- Fig. 5: its partner for a different approach.
- Both together: the most flexible choice for a surgical tray.
Seating the hollow
First, rest a finger on firm tissue close by. Then guide the tip into the ligament space with the hollow facing the root. Turn gently and let the wedge do the work. Never use a tooth that stays as your fulcrum. Light force also spares the buccal plate where an implant is the plan.
Keeping the scoop clean
Debris can collect in the hollow of a Schmeckebier concave tip. So brush the inside of the tip with care before each cycle, then dry it well.
Ordering the concave pair
We source this pair to our own specification, in stainless steel meeting ASTM F899. Expect it non-sterile in the box, and plan a wash and autoclave cycle before it sees a patient; after that it earns a place on the tray for many cases. Our pledge to you on each figure: three years against manufacturing defects, starting when your parcel lands. If your gaps run tight, see the Schmeckebier flat tip version.
