Reading the Figure Labels

These scalers are identified by figure number, with letters marking variants:

• Low numbered figures: the scaler set runs Fig 1 through Fig 4, four patterns in all.
• In the thirties: Fig 32, Fig 33, Fig 34, plus the variants Fig 33A and Fig 33B.
• Our Fig 12 family: Fig 12B alone, Fig 12 in Style B, and Fig 12B in a White Pattern.
• Also offered: Fig 33 in Style B.

Our listing does not record blade dimensions or handle details for these figures. Therefore, compare the photos, and treat Style B and the White Pattern as alternate versions of the same figure numbers.

Choosing a Figure for Your Tray

Most hygienists already have favourite figures from school or from their current cassette. So the simplest route is to match the label you use today. When you want a second option, add a letter variant of a figure you already like. For example, a clinician who uses Fig 33 might try Fig 33A or Fig 33B next.

Sharpness and Daily Care

A dull scaler burnishes calculus instead of removing it. Therefore, sharpen on a stone regularly and check the edge against a test stick.
