Description
Composite Filling Instruments
Resin composite is placed in small increments and shaped before it is cured. That calls for slim, smooth hand instruments that move material without dragging it. These composite filling instruments come from a restorative set in our supplier’s catalogue. We sell each pattern on its own, so you can build a kit or replace a single piece.
Round or Taper, Straight or Angled
Four options form a simple grid. The Round ends come as Round, Straight and Round, Angled. The Taper ends come as Taper, Straight and Taper, Angled. A round end suits rounded surfaces and pressing material into place. A tapered end narrows to a point, so it reaches line angles and fine detail. Then the choice of straight or angled depends on access: straight for anterior teeth, angled for posterior reach.
Sherman Packer and the Balshi Packers
The remaining three options are named packers from the same set. Sherman Packer is a single pattern. The Balshi pattern comes as Balshi Packer and Balshi Packer, Angled, which gives you a choice of access angle. No written specs accompany the three packers. So hold the photos up against the packers already in your drawer.
Working With Composite Increments
- Place a small increment with the round end.
- Shape line angles and grooves with the taper.
- Then cure each layer before adding the next.
Because composite sticks to dry steel, some clinicians wipe the tip with a little bonding resin first. Also, clean the tip between increments to keep surfaces smooth.
Checks, Sterility and Warranty
These instruments receive a close look in the United States for tip finish and handle alignment before shipping. They are packed non-sterile; so clean each one and run it through sterilization before placing any resin. Furthermore, Round, Taper, Sherman and Balshi patterns alike carry three years against manufacturing defects on our terms.
The steel complies with ASTM F899. For more angled access, look at our contra-angled filling instruments, browse the full restorative and periodontal range, or read our FAQs.
