Description
Arthur Root Splinter Forceps
A small root tip left in the socket can slow down any case. Our Arthur root splinter forceps have fine tips for these splinters and fragments. They let you pick out pieces that a standard forceps would just push deeper.
When a Root Fractures
Roots can snap during luxation, even with good technique. Then you face a thin, sharp piece in a bloody field. A fine-tipped forceps lets you grasp it without much force. As a result, you are less likely to push it further into the socket.
What Sets the Arthur Pattern Apart
The Arthur pattern is a splinter forceps, not a crown forceps. Its fine tips aim at small pieces rather than whole teeth. It is a single item, so there are no options to compare. We sell it singly, and many clinics keep two so one is always ready.
Typical Uses
- Root tips that break off during extraction
- Thin splinters of root near the socket rim
- Small fragments after you section a tooth
Technique for Small Fragments
First, rinse and dry the field so you can see the piece. Use good light and suction. Next, slide the tips along the root surface to get a hold. Then lift with a slow, steady pull. If the piece will not move, loosen it first with a fine elevator, then try again.
Protecting the Fine Tips
Fine tips can bend if you drop them or use them to lever. So keep the forceps in a slot or rack, apart from heavy tools. Also check that the tips meet after each cycle.
Quality and Ordering
This Arthur pattern matches our specification, and a US-based team looks over each one. Its stainless steel conforms with ASTM F899. Plan for it to arrive non-sterile, then sterilize it for repeat use once cleaned. If a defect from making it ever shows, our three years against manufacturing defects step in. For another fine-tip pattern, compare the Stieglitz splinter forceps, or return to our dental forceps listing. Our frequently asked questions tackle most order puzzles.
