Description
Root Planing Set, 17 Pieces
A root planing set should let you reach every root surface without surgery. This kit does that with seventeen pieces, eight of them Gracey curettes. As a result, you can match the blade to each tooth and pocket depth.
Finding the deposits
Two explorers open the visit, a TU 17/23 for the crowns and an EXD 11/12 AF for roots. Next, use the UNC 15/11/5B colour probe to chart depth.
Three scalers for gross removal
Heavy calculus goes first. So the H6/7, 204SD and MC 17/18R scalers clear the bulk above and just below the gum line. After that, the curettes do the finer work.
A Gracey for every surface
The kit has eight Gracey curettes. The SAS 1/2 and 7/8 suit front teeth and premolars. Meanwhile, the standard 17/18 reaches distal surfaces of back teeth. Four longer-shank patterns, the 11/12, 13/14, 15/16 and 11/14, reach deeper pockets.
- Two explorers and a UNC probe
- H6/7, 204SD and MC 17/18R scalers
- Eight Gracey curettes in three styles
- Two stones and a tray bowl for sharpening
Keeping edges sharp
Root planing depends on a sharp edge. For this reason, the kit has two stones, one fine slip and one hard Arkansas poly. In addition, a tray bowl holds water or oil while you hone.
Root planing or prophylaxis kit?
Choose this kit for scaling and root planing visits. By contrast, our prophylaxis kits suit routine cleanings with fewer curettes. Ordering this root planing set as one group gives you matched handles and a single count.
Our specification guides how these are made, and we check each one in the United States. All stainless parts answer to ASTM F899. Delivery is non-sterile; once cleaned and sterilised, each one is reusable. If a root planing piece fails through a fault of making, all 17 tools carry three years against manufacturing defects. For gum surgery, look at the 20-piece perio surgery kit. Our dental clinical sets page lists the rest, and our FAQ answers order questions.
These root planing tools are for professional use only. Read our sterilization notes and shipping policy before ordering.
