Description
Posigrip Articulating Paper Forceps
When you check a bite after placing a restoration, these articulating paper forceps hold the marking strip steady between the arches so the contacts print cleanly. The Posigrip is a 15 cm stainless steel pattern. Intrace USA, an Atlanta distributor, checks every pair by hand in the United States, then packs it for dispatch.
Holding the Strip Flat Across the Occlusal Table
Articulating paper only marks well when it lies flat and stays put. The forceps grip one end of the strip, so the rest spans the posterior teeth without folding. Then the patient taps or grinds, and the high spots appear in color. Because your fingers stay outside the mouth, the paper stays dry longer and the patient is less likely to gag.
Why 15 cm Suits Both Arches
At 15 cm, the forceps reach the second molars from the front of the mouth while your hand rests on the chin or cheek. The length also leaves room for a mirror in your other hand. For example, you can retract the cheek, view the lingual cusps and hold the strip in one setup. This single size covers routine adjustments in general practice and in prosthodontic work.
Where the Forceps Fit in a Restorative Workflow
Most offices reach for articulating paper forceps after seating a crown, an inlay or a composite. They also help when you adjust a denture or a night guard chairside. In addition, an assistant can preload a fresh strip so the dentist works without delay. Once the marks show, you switch to a bur or finishing instrument, then check again with a new strip.
Reprocessing Between Patients
The forceps leave our shelf non-sterile; run a full wash and autoclave cycle before any patient contact. Discard the used strip first, then scrub the jaws, where dye and saliva collect. Next, check the tips for any bent edge before you bag them for the autoclave. We stand behind the Posigrip for three years against manufacturing defects, which suits a busy operatory.
Our Posigrip jaws and handles are cut from stainless steel graded to ASTM F899. Browse more chairside tools in Diagnostic, Periodontal and Restorative Instruments, pair these forceps with a Mouth Mirror #5 with Handle, or read common ordering answers in our FAQs.
