Mouth Mirror #5 with Handle, Single or Double-Sided
This #5 mouth mirror has a 24 mm head on a balanced, hand-sized handle. It comes in two versions: a single-sided mirror for everyday examination, and a double-sided mouth mirror with front-surface glass. Pick the one that suits the way you work.
Why choose a double-sided mouth mirror
With a reflecting face on both sides, one side retracts the cheek or tongue while the other gives you a view. So you can see and retract with one instrument, which frees your other hand. Hygienists find this especially useful during scaling, where the mirror is always in the mouth.
Front-surface glass
On a standard mirror, light passes through glass before it reflects, which can create a faint double image. On the double-sided version, the reflective coating sits on the front surface. Consequently, the image is sharper and free of ghosting, which helps when checking margins and fine detail.
The #5 size
The #5 head is 24 mm across. It shows more of the arch than a #4 (22 mm), but it still fits comfortably in most adult mouths.
Using and caring for the mirror
Hold the handle in a modified pen grasp and keep the face clear of the teeth to avoid scratching it. Warm the head or use an anti-fog solution to stop misting. After use, wipe the face with a soft cloth only; never scrub it with an abrasive pad. Then sterilize the mirror dry.
