Description
Periotome Handle and Blade Set, 4 Pieces
This periotome handle and blades kit gives you one 15 cm handle and three blades that fit it. A periotome cuts the ligament with a thin blade. So it helps you loosen a tooth while you aim to keep the socket walls intact.
One handle, three blades
The single ended handle measures 15 cm (6 in). Blade P1 is 2 mm wide, straight and 4 cm (1-1/2 in) long. P2 narrows to 1.5 mm, also straight and 4 cm. Then P3 is 1.5 mm and angled, at 4.5 cm (1-3/4 in).
How periotomy works
Insert the blade into the ligament space along the root. Next, move it around the tooth in small steps. The thin blade cuts the fibers as it goes deeper. As a result, the tooth often loosens before you apply forceps.
Choosing a blade:
- P1, 2 mm straight: wider roots and initial entry
- P2, 1.5 mm straight: narrow spaces
- P3, 1.5 mm angled: posterior or angled access
Why a handle-and-blade design
A shared handle keeps the grip the same while you change blades. Also, you swap only the working end, which keeps the tray light.
This kit or a full periotome set?
Our titanium periotome kit offers more tips on fixed handles. By contrast, this kit stays compact with three steel blades. Choose it if you want a simple start in periotomy or a spare handle setup.
Matched parts in one order
The blades fit the handle, so you know the parts work together. That alone is a good reason to buy the periotome handle and blades as one kit.
Periotome care and cover
We stand behind the handle and blades for three years against manufacturing defects. Intrace specifies the design, and the steel meets ASTM F899. The periotome handle and its blades ship non-sterile. Clean and sterilize the periotome kit before first use, and it remains reusable after that. For more tips, look at the titanium periotome kit. For professional use only. Thin blades need gentle handling, so review the sterilization tips and shipping info.
