Description
Nabers Probes
A straight periodontal probe cannot follow the roof of a furcation between molar roots. The Nabers probe solves that with a curved working end that hooks horizontally into the entrance. Intrace USA, an Atlanta distributor, offers five versions for hygienists and periodontists who chart furcation involvement.
How a Curved Furcation Probe Is Used
First, the clinician locates the furcation entrance from the buccal or lingual side. Next, the tip slides in under the roof while the shank follows the curve. Then the depth of horizontal penetration guides the furcation class recorded in the chart. Because the probe is curved, the handle sits at an angle that keeps the tip in contact without forcing it.
Fig. 1N Compared With Fig. 2N
Both figures carry the Nabers name in the catalogue and appear on the periodontal probe page. Clinicians often keep both on the tray, since many practices treat the 1N and 2N as a working pair. However, the supplier caption gives few written details, so check the product photos for the curve and the tip of each figure before you choose.
The Style 2 Rows and the Q2N Colour-Coded Version
Fig. 1N, Style 2 and Fig. 2N, Style 2 are a second handle pattern for the same figures, taken from the same catalogue page. The catalogue does not spell out the difference, so the photos are your guide. Meanwhile, Q2N, Colour-Coded 3-6-9-12 carries coloured bands at 3, 6, 9 and 12 mm, which make readings faster to spot at a glance.
Quality Check and Coverage
Every Nabers probe is checked in the United States for tip shape and shank alignment before it goes out. Our guarantee on the curved shank and handle extends three years against manufacturing defects. No probe leaves us sterile, therefore wash and autoclave yours before the first periodontal charting session.
Probe steel meets the ASTM F899 standard. Explore our periodontal diagnostic instruments, add a straight pocket probe such as the University of Michigan Probes, or visit the FAQ page for ordering help.
