Mouth Mirror Heads
Mirror glass scratches and clouds long before a handle wears out. So most practices replace mouth mirror heads on a schedule and keep the handles. Intrace USA, an Atlanta based distributor, offers seven head combinations on this page, built from three simple choices.
Choice One: Simple Thread or Cone Socket
The fitting must suit your handle, otherwise the head will not seat. Simple Thread heads screw into a standard threaded handle. Cone Socket heads, on the other hand, push into a cone socket handle. Check a current head before you order, because the two systems do not mix.
Choice Two: Plain, Magnifying or Front Surface Glass
Plain heads give a true size reflection, which most clinicians use for routine examination and retraction. Magnifying heads enlarge the image, which helps when reading fine margins or small carious lesions on the reflected view. However, a magnified image also narrows the field, so many offices stock both. On this page, the Magnifying version comes with the Simple Thread fitting only.
Front surface heads carry the reflective coating on the face of the glass. That removes the faint double image of a standard mirror, so the view stays sharp. The front surface head comes in Fig. 5 with a Cone Socket fitting.
Choice Three: Fig. 4 or Fig. 5
The supplier catalogue sizes mirror heads by figure number. There, Fig. 4 appears at 22 mm diameter and Fig. 5 at 24 mm. A smaller head turns more easily in tight posterior areas and in children. Meanwhile, the larger head reflects more of the arch and retracts the cheek more broadly.

Every replacement head is examined by hand in the United States for glass and thread quality before packing. For the glass mounting and stem, our coverage runs three years against manufacturing defects. Heads arrive non-sterile, therefore clean and sterilize them, on or off the handle, before seating patients.
Metal parts follow the ASTM F899 stainless standard. Visit the diagnostic and restorative instruments range, match these heads to our Mouth Mirror Handles, or find quick answers in the store FAQs.
