Description
Molar Band Bending Pliers, Grooved
Molar bands take the most load in a fixed case, so their fit matters. Our molar band bending pliers help you skirt molar bands for a close fit. They also have a groove, and the catalogue recommends .016″, .018″ and .022″ wire (0.41 mm, 0.46 mm and 0.56 mm).
Skirting Molar Bands
A molar band often stands away at the gum line. With this plier, you work that edge until it follows the tooth. Then the band seats with less cement and a cleaner margin.
Using the Groove
The groove gives the wire a guide. In practice, it helps hold round wire steady while you bend it. Stick to the three sizes the catalogue recommends, because other sizes may slip or bind in the groove.
Recommended Wire Sizes
- .016″ (0.41 mm)
- .018″ (0.46 mm)
- .022″ (0.56 mm)
Banding Day Workflow
On banding day, set this plier next to your band seater and band pusher. First, size and try each band. Next, skirt it with the plier. Finally, seat it once more before you cement.
Rinse, Dry, Lube
Band material and cement can clog the groove. So rinse the plier soon after use and brush the groove clean. After drying, put a drop of lubricant on the hinge.
Ordering With Confidence
Our own specification sets the design, and we inspect it in the US before it ships to you. The stainless steel meets ASTM F899. If a flaw in the making shows up, three years against manufacturing defects back you up. It is non-sterile out of the pack, but after cleaning and a sterile cycle it is good to reuse. For the next step, try our band seating pliers. There is more in our orthodontic shop, and our FAQ guide covers orders.
