Description
Misch Ridge Elevators
A Misch ridge elevator is designed for one task: reflecting tissue in edentulous areas, as our supplier catalogue puts it. Over a healed ridge, the mucosa is often thin and firmly bound to bone. These elevators help the surgeon lift it cleanly so the crest is fully exposed for implant planning.
Why Edentulous Ridges Need Their Own Elevator
Once teeth are gone, the ridge resorbs and its shape changes. In addition, scar tissue from earlier extractions can tether the flap. A general periosteal may slip on that narrow, rounded crest. A ridge elevator, by contrast, is meant to follow the contour and keep the flap intact.
Pattern #1 or Pattern #2
The catalogue lists both as Misch ridge elevators for tissue reflection in edentulous areas, numbered #1 and #2. It does not describe how the two ends differ. Therefore, please compare the photos to see each working tip. Many surgeons order the pair, so they have both profiles ready when the ridge shape varies across the arch.
Placing the Elevator on the Crest
First, make the crestal incision and engage the blade beneath the periosteum. Next, work along the ridge in small increments, staying on bone. Then, extend toward the buccal and lingual sides until the full width of the crest is visible. Also, check for any concavities that might need grafting.
- Flap reflection before implant osteotomy
- Exposure for ridge splitting or expansion
- Access for onlay or particulate grafts
Quality, Sterility and Warranty
Our team inspects both patterns in the United States before they ship. Each one is backed by our commitment of three years against manufacturing defects. The elevators reach you non-sterile, so please clean and sterilize them before their first case.
The stainless steel meets ASTM F899. Explore all dental implant instruments, prepare a narrow crest with our Ridge Splitting Chisel, or read the FAQs.
Supplied exclusively for trained implant professionals. Ridge elevator orders travel per our shipping terms; reuse them only after the steps in our instrument care notes.
