Description
Miller Bone Curettes
With its longer body, the miller bone curette reaches deeper sites than the short European spoons. We list four versions, built around two lengths and two catalogue styles. All of them come from the third bone curettes page of our supplier catalogue, where they are shown by length only.
Four Options, Two Decisions
First, pick the length. Then pick the style. The catalogue gives no more detail than that, so study the Miller photos closely to tell the plain pattern from Style 2.
- Shorter Miller, 7 in, 18 cm: the standard pattern.
- 7 in, 18 cm, Style 2: the same length in the second catalogue style.
- Longer Miller, 7-1/4 in, 18.5 cm: the standard pattern.
- 7-1/4 in, 18.5 cm, Style 2: the longer length in the second style.
Picking 18 cm or 18.5 cm
Half a centimetre sounds small. Even so, it changes where your hand rests on a posterior case. The 18.5 cm version keeps your fingers further from the lips when you work in third molar sockets. On the other hand, the 18 cm Miller feels a little more nimble in the premolar and anterior region.
Clearing Sockets and Defects
After an extraction or cyst removal, the Miller scrapes granulation tissue off the bony walls. As a result, the site is clean before grafting or closure. It can also lift bone chips for a small graft.
Every Miller is surgical stainless steel to the ASTM F899 specification. Our staff inspect each length and style in the United States, and the curette ships non-sterile, so autoclave it before the first patient. All four Miller versions are protected for three years against manufacturing defects, Style 2 included. Related tools are in our Maxillofacial Surgery Instruments category, and you can compare the miller bone curette with the Lucas bone curettes, or read our FAQs.
Miller curettes are for trained clinicians only. Our care and sterilization notes and shipping policy give the practical details.
