Membrane Placement Instrument, Micro-Point Tip
A barrier membrane is only useful if it lies exactly where you planned. This membrane placement instrument has a micro-point tip for precise placement and manipulation of membranes. It is a single pattern, so you simply add it to your grafting tray.
Why a Micro-Point Tip
Membranes are thin and often sticky once wet. A broad instrument tends to fold or drag them. By contrast, a micro-point touches only a tiny area, so you can nudge one edge without disturbing the rest. That fine contact also helps when the membrane must sit snugly against an implant collar.
Tucking Under the Flap
Many techniques tuck the membrane edge beneath the reflected flap or the palatal tissue. First, lay the membrane over the graft. Next, use the micro-point to slide each border under the tissue margin. Finally, check that no graft particles are exposed before suturing.
Working With Pins and Tacks
When a membrane is fixed with pins, it must stay taut while you place them. Meanwhile, the micro-point can hold a corner in position or smooth a wrinkle near a tack. For this reason, it often stays in the assistant’s hand during fixation. It can also lift a membrane edge that has curled back, without grabbing and creasing it.
Quality Assurance From Atlanta
Our U.S. staff in Atlanta inspect the micro-point under magnification before every unit ships. Since the instrument comes unsterilized, wash it and steam sterilize it before handling any membrane. Moreover, if the micro-point or shaft turns out faulty from production, our placement instrument warranty of three years against manufacturing defects lets you claim a replacement.
The steel meets ASTM F899. Browse Dental Implant Instruments for grafting tools, and use our membrane forceps to lift the membrane before placement. Order help is in the FAQs.
