Martin-Axial Plastic Filling
A martin axial plastic filling instrument places and shapes soft restorative material such as composite, glass ionomer or temporary cement. In dentistry, plastic means a material that can still be moulded, not the instrument itself. This page offers the Martin-Axial design in eight numbered patterns.
Patterns 1 to 8
The options run from 1 to 8, and each number is a separate Martin-Axial pattern. Our supplier gives the numbers only, with no written notes on each tip. Therefore, the photos are the place to compare the working ends. Many clinicians order two or three numbers first, then add more as their technique settles.
How to Narrow the Choice
Think about where you place most of your material. For instance, anterior composite calls for a fine, smooth blade, whereas a posterior box needs a sturdier end. Match those needs to the shapes in the photos. If two numbers look similar, choose the one whose angle fits your usual seating position.
Working Composite Without Pulling
Composite can stick to steel as you lift away. So keep the working end clean and dry, and slide it off sideways rather than lifting straight up. In addition, place small layers and cure each one as your material instructions direct.
Matching Instruments Across a Practice
When several dentists share trays, a common numbered set keeps stocking simple. Then everyone knows which number sits in which slot.
These Martin-Axial instruments are stainless steel, and our Atlanta staff inspect them in the United States before dispatch. They reach your office unsterilized, so they should be cleaned and steam sterilized before use. Each of the eight numbers is guaranteed three years against manufacturing defects from Intrace USA.
